There’s something really special about photographing a wedding that feels so perfectly matched to the couple. That was Kim & Steve’s big day all over. From the moment I arrived at their Moddershall Oaks wedding, the energy was full of love and laughter. The kind of joy you get when two people just get each other. Oh – and did I mention there were four cats involved in their theme?
Why a Wedding at Moddershall Oaks?
Kim and Steve might not be originally from Stoke, but this is the place they’ve made their home. They’ve truly fallen in love with it. So much so, their joint Instagram account is called @welovestoke. Yep, that name came to life while they were at Moddershall Oaks!
Choosing Moddershall Oaks as their venue made perfect sense. It’s peaceful, elegant and totally suited to couples who want a day that flows naturally. From the spa-side views to the chic indoor spaces and that lush outdoor ceremony spot. It really is one of Staffordshire’s most beautiful venues. And with the sun shining from start to finish, the whole place looked absolutely magical.

A Theme Built Around Their Favourite Things
Every wedding is unique, but when I say Kim & Steve made theirs so them, I mean it. The day was filled with personal touches that celebrated everything they love as a couple: cats, Disney, and of course, Stoke.
With four cats at home (yes, four!), it’s safe to say they’re very much cat people. Their table names, details, and signage gave nods to their feline family in the most adorable way. They’re also huge Disney fans! Not in a cliché way, but with little details that nodded to the magic and adventure they love. Think sweet, subtle references rather than full Mickey ears (although honestly, I’d be here for that too).
The “Stoke” theme added the final touch. This wasn’t about flashy décor. It was about celebrating their life together in a place that’s come to mean everything to them.
Sweetheart Seating and Sunshine Vibes
Kim & Steve’s ceremony was emotional in all the right ways, and their decision to sit at a sweetheart table during dinner? Loved that. It gave them a chance to just be together for a moment in the whirlwind of the day. Let’s be honest, they could share food without interruption, which might be the most romantic thing of all.
From start to finish, the whole day felt relaxed and love-soaked. They had the brilliant Emily Lockett performing live music, then danced the night away with Dave Dee Disco (a Stoke legend!). There were vlog cameras set up by Vlog My Wedding, which I thought was such a clever idea to catch those behind-the-scenes moments too.

Fun Fashion and Colourful Style
Kim absolutely rocked her dress from Whyte Weddings, paired with some seriously cool shoes from Irregular Choice— the kind of shoes that say “I’m fun and fabulous” with every step. Steve looked super sharp in his suit from The Suited Groom, and the bridal party were dressed in dreamy outfits from JJ’s House that added the perfect splash of soft colour to the day.
Hair and makeup were done by the talented Bridal Hair by Mel and Laura Whitehurst, giving Kim and her crew those flawless getting-ready moments I love to capture.
Just Pure Joy, Start to Finish
I loved everything about this day — the thoughtful details, the easy-going vibe, and the way Kim & Steve looked at each other like it was still the first date. It was a real honour to be part of a wedding that was joyful, unapologetically personal, and totally full of love.
