Hen Do Blues: 3 Day Hen Do Photography Captures

COMMERCIAL LOVE, FAMILY LOVE

Last weekend, we packed our bags (and a cheeky bottle or two) and headed to Clawdd Offa Farm for my sister’s hen do—a whirlwind of laughter, memories, and cake. As the Maid of Honour, I’d been secretly plotting this weekend for months, trying to keep it under wraps from the bride. Not an easy feat, but with Claire and Jas (the ultimate bridesmaid dream team) by my side, we pulled it off.

The weekend was everything she needed—plenty of laughs, an afternoon tea to die for (thanks to Herron Catering), and a ridiculous amount of blondies courtesy of Lennie’s Cakes. And don’t even get me started on the show-stopping cake from Just Staffordshire Bakes. It was the perfect balance of chilled vibes and celebratory chaos, with her best friends by her side every step of the way.

But here’s the thing no one tells you about hen dos—they end.

When the Blues Set In

As we packed up the confetti and waved goodbye to the farm, my sister turned to me and said, “Is it weird that I feel sad already?” And there it was—the infamous hen do blues.

It’s not about regretting the fun you had or wishing it could have gone differently. It’s about realising how quickly the moments you’ve been looking forward to come and go. The laughter, the memories, and the little inside jokes created over the weekend suddenly feel like they’re slipping away.

For my sister, it wasn’t just the hen do blues—it was the looming fear of wedding day blues, too. “If I’m like this now, what’s it going to feel like after the wedding?” she admitted.

Let’s Talk About Hen Do Blues

The truth is, hen dos and weddings are huge emotional moments, and it’s perfectly normal to feel a bit deflated when they’re over. As much as these events are about joy, they’re also milestones marking the passage of time, the end of one chapter, and the start of another.

If you’re planning a wedding—or a hen do—you don’t need to fear the blues. Acknowledge them, feel them, and lean on your people. And remember, the love and connection you felt during those moments doesn’t just disappear when the confetti settles.

This blog is as much for my sister as it is for anyone else heading into their big day. The hen do blues (and wedding day blues) are real, but they’re also a sign of how much these moments mean to you.
